Tip for building a new habit
The trick to building a new habit, according to James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, is to complete as many continues days as possible.
In other words, try to fill in each circle every day, creating a continuous “streak” where possible.
For example, if you want to start running, then try to do that particular habit every day, even if all you achieve is to put on your running kit, walk out the door and run 100m.
What matters is that you DID IT.
That mental shift to doing it every day, and making it a habit, is far more important than trying to overdo it and run 5miles every day.
Start small.
Do it every day.
Make it a habit.
Once it’s habit, you no longer need to motivate yourself to get up and go out, you just DO IT.
By making it a habit it requires less mental energy to simply do it every day, or regularly.
Breaking a BAD habit
The same goes for breaking a bad habit.
Try to go for a continuous streak wherever possible.
Don’t worry if you break that streak, it happens to all of us. It’s just one day, not a judgement of your character.
What matters is that you do it again tomorrow.
As always, all of my love. I believe in you.
